Nicaragua

My mother is Puerto Rican and my father is Nicaraguan. We had never visited Nicaragua so last summer we visited for 2 weeks. It was one of the best vacations I've ever been on. We got to hike up volcanoes, swim ij the pacific ocean, and take canopy tours through the forest among a host of other things. My favorite part of the trip though, was meeting a whole half of my family that previously had been unknown to me. Meeting them was a lot like when I first met the puerto rican side: both sides were humorous, continuous talkers, hospitable, and desperately poor. In Nicaragua, the lights go out periodically and living conditions in the neighborhoods are horrid. It served to remind me to be grateful for what I have and to aspire to make something myself in order to take my family out of poverty.
