Last Post!!

This is the last post on this blog as it fulfills the required 10 posts. Honestly, I think this will be the last time I ever have a blog. How many people honestly care about my life that much. Truthfully, I also lack the motivation and drive, a.k.a. laziness, to archive each day or thought. I'd rather much prefer pondering thoughts in my head and recalling memories, not typing them up for all the world to see. I guess it's why I never had a journal. But, as I hear it, there are big aficionados of this activity and as they say where I'm from, I'll let you rock, but I'm out! =)

Nicaragua

My mother is Puerto Rican and my father is Nicaraguan. We had never visited Nicaragua so last summer we visited for 2 weeks. It was one of the best vacations I've ever been on. We got to hike up volcanoes, swim ij the pacific ocean, and take canopy tours through the forest among a host of other things. My favorite part of the trip though, was meeting a whole half of my family that previously had been unknown to me. Meeting them was a lot like when I first met the puerto rican side: both sides were humorous, continuous talkers, hospitable, and desperately poor. In Nicaragua, the lights go out periodically and living conditions in the neighborhoods are horrid. It served to remind me to be grateful for what I have and to aspire to make something myself in order to take my family out of poverty.

the future

I often wonder what I'm going to become after high school, after college. Will I be poor, or an average joe, or rich, successful man. After college, I want to pursue a career working at hedge funds and hopefully make plenty of money. Some might say I'm only looking at the money side, but is there really another side to life. Money, not government, is the single thing that runs our society. The richest 1% of our nation owns 50% of the wealth- now why sould I be criticized for being as ambitious. Of course I know family, friends, and love etc. are all important but those things get broken up for lack of(and an excess of for that matter) money.

Boricua!!

Sunday was the Puerto Rican day parade and even though I didn't attend I celebrated in my old neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn. By 7 o'clock, the hood was going crazy. It seemed like the buildings had spilled all the neighbohood occupants into the street. Everyone was barbecuing, blasting music, and representing their Puerto Rican Heritage in some form or another. People riding by honked at each other and I started marching through the street with around 50 other people. It was definitely one of the funnest and craziest days of my life.

tour de NYC

Last weekend i rode my bike from my house all the way to the brooklyn bridge watching as I crossed neighborhoods and faces pass by. I then proceeded to cross the bridge taking special care to resist the urge to mow down the gawking tourists. I have to admit though, it is the nicest bridge I've ever crossed. When I got into the city I rode down to Battery Park city and hen up te west side all the way into Central Park. The sense of accomplishment was almost as stisfying as layingdown and falling asleep on the grass. It was an oasis of calm in the bustlng city I had just been riding through.

job hunting

How hard is it to find a job? too hard! Somehow, every girl who applies for a job at a store gets it and when I ask for an application....they're not hiring. I've been forced to save every dollar like I'm retired and living in Florida. Ive been forced to sell a few of my sneakers just to make money. Yesterday Branden and I went looking for a job down Graham ave and Broadway ave and guess what we found? Nothing! Guess I'm just going to have to keep looking and maybe start pushing for the return of an allowance...

college

When I graduate, or hope to graduate *curse you senior seminar* I'm going to attend the University at Albany in upstate New York. I'm highly looking forward to this moment because it means more independence and a chance to get out of this bummy city, or at least this part of it, for a while. Another reason I'm looking forward to college is the fact that I'll be going with one of my boys Candido. Candido's one of the few people i would call a real friend in charter and I'm glad that I'll get to bust his ass in ball for 4 more years.

Prom

So my high school prom was a few days ago and I have to say it turned out to be better than I expected. The place, Giando, was decorated real nice and the ood they served was pretty good, esecially those mozarella sticks. Those are the best ones I've ever tasted. Most of the fun was when people started dancing, although I think Naheim was dancing before they even took pictures. Afterwards, I went to a club with some of my friends and later to a hotel. I've never een so many people throwing up at once. All in all, prom wasa fun night.

NBA Finals

Game 3 of the NBA finals is tomorrow and I'm hoping Kobe and the lakers will fially win one. Watching Kobe plays reminds me of when i used to watch Michael Jordan play. He plays with the same intensity, competiveness and skills as Jordan and its some of the best basketball you will ever get to watch. Some people say that Kobe's better than Jordan (blasphemy!) but he hasnt been able to accomplish what Jordan accomplished. Kobe's great, just not better than the greatest.

first post

This is the first post in the life and times of The Legend's life. The Legend is allowing all of you other mere mortals to know about his life because he is being forced by a certain evil spirit otherwise known as Ms. Apostolou. Today, after The Legend's daily incarceration terminated at 4:06, he went to the park and did what he was born to do: bust Candido Martinez's ass playing 'ball. Let it be a lesson to all others who dare commit blasphemy- The Legend is.....well...he's The Legend. The Legend's just been informed that in order to receive a diploma he has to bless the reader with another sentence about his life. The Legend's feet are the greatest to ever walk the streets of NYC.
